Eye-opening approval ratings reveal what Americans really think about Trump’s second term
The survey found that roughly four out of ten U.S. adults approve of Trump’s performance as president.
This figure remains largely unchanged from polling conducted in March 2025, shortly after he returned to office.
As of January 8, 2026, the poll reported that 59 percent of adults disapprove of Trump’s job performance, while 40 percent expressed approval.
On several major policy areas, a majority of respondents also expressed dissatisfaction.
AP-NORC poll results on key issues show the following:
Handling of the economy: 37 percent approve, while 62 percent disapprove
Handling of immigration: 38 percent approve, while 61 percent disapprove
Handling of foreign affairs: 37 percent approve, while 61 percent disapprove
