Found Metal Balls Under Your Kitchen Sink? Here’s What They Mean

1. Ball Bearings from Cabinet Hardware

One of the most common sources is ball bearings from cabinet  drawer slides or  hinges. Over time,  drawers that are opened and closed frequently can wear down, causing tiny metal balls to fall out.

What to do:
Check nearby drawers or cabinet tracks. If a drawer feels loose or rough, it may need repair or replacement.

2. Parts from the Sink Shut-Off Valve

Some sink shut-off valves and faucet components contain small metal balls as part of pressure or flow control mechanisms. If a valve is old or damaged, a piece may come loose.

What to do:
Inspect the shut-off valves under the sink. If you notice leaks, stiffness, or corrosion, it’s a good idea to have a plumber take a look.

3. Debris from Old Plumbing

In older homes, plumbing systems can slowly degrade. Small metal pieces may come from aging pipes, fittings, or connectors.
