/ Shotshop. For decades, he accompanied countless people through their daily lives. His voice was part of morning, noon, and evening. Many knew him without ever having met him in person. Now this familiar accompaniment ends abruptly – not in the studio, but far from Germany.
The news hits southwestern Germany particularly hard: A long-time radio presenter and journalist is dead. The circumstances are tragic, the location surprising. What initially seemed like a fulfilling retirement suddenly ends in catastrophe.
After retiring from active professional life, he decided on a radical new beginning. Away from the studio, away from the fixed broadcast schedule – towards wind, water, and wide open spaces. Together with his wife, he relocated his life abroad, to a Greek island.
A sailboat became his home. He regularly reported on life aboard, sharing impressions, thoughts, and everyday moments with a loyal online community. Even at Christmas, he posted an update, explaining the customs and traditions of his new adopted home. No one suspected it would be his last message.
